The building is named John S. Perry House in memory
of the late Mr. John S. Perry, the geotechnical engineer during the construction of
the building. Mr. Perry was a major supporter of the construction
of the apartments and a close friend of the owner and his family. Upon
Mr. Perry's death, the owner of the apartments dedicated them in his
name as a tribute to him and his family. Mr. Perry is buried
a short distance away in historical Edinburg. Mr. Perry's picture,
painted from a small photo shows him in his full Confederate
dress atop his horse during a Civil War re-enactment.
